This weeks challenge will be to create a DMC style of game with interesting changes to the system, cool powers, and awesome characters and story. Goooooooo!
For those who aren't in the know about 'Spore', it was a life simulation game where you began the game as a single celled organism, and eventually evolved your way up to a land dwelling creature, which then became intelligent, and you would play through your species life as a tribe, into massive cities, and finally an all-powerful spacefaring civilization. The game was incredibly hyped for the fact that you could literally design your own creature however you wanted with different parts which would change how they would move, act, and the capabilities they had. However, in my opinion, the game was executed poorly on all counts. No specific phase was developed to have any sort of polish, and even the amazing capabilities of the games creature creator couldn't overcome the poor design of how parts actually effected your creature.
My focus though will be on what was the first two phases of 'Spore', the life cycles of non-sentient creatures, regardless of their scale. So, let's jump right into it!

Alright folks, that's my design for Good Spore. I wish I'd had more time to go into details about evolutions and how they would affect your creature, but alas, I'm no evolutionary biologist, and I've only got one week!
1 down, 51 to go. See ya next time.
This place is one of my New Years Resolutions. So I guess I had better take a stab at it.
"Good Spore" will be up on Sunday. That's right. It's Spore. But good.
I have free time in excessive amounts. This journal is reinstated, and the previous project is now the current project.
Paranormal Investigation game will be posted by midnight on Sunday, April 19th!
Hey... that's also my birthday... Fuuuuck, I gotta write shit up on my birthday?!
That's a really boring name so the working title will be...
Dragons, Kings & Deadly Things
My thought process: Well, to be honest, I was seriously just sitting on the toilet when I thought up the idea for this game. It seems like first person shooters are everywhere these days, with all sorts of different settings. We've got past (WWII anyone?), present (games like Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty, that sort of thing), and future (with games like Quake, or Half-Life). But I sorta realized that even though there were games that were set in a more fantasy setting and had a first person perspective, there wasn't really a Medieval FPS. I of course, chose to remedy that, hoping to make a fun game that players could jump into and enjoy, but had enough options and scenarios to keep players coming back again and again and again (A veritable Diablo II of FPS).

Okay, it's harder then it looks... I'll be doing my real update on this coming Sunday at the latest. Sorry about the delay, hopefully I'll get into the flow of things soon.
Game 1: Action platformer/RPG style game. Sorta Devil May Cry-ish in gameplay, but with more traditional RPG elements between combat.
Goals: Make it interesting! Cool characters, cool story, cool everything!
Gave myself a head start on this one, since it'll be my first, and I've got Spring Break coming up, so I don't know how busy I'll be. Check back on Sunday, March 9th to see what I've got!
I'm switching up this journal's purpose for the most part. From henceforth, every monday, I will think up a totally sweet game. I'll write up a basic design for it, some of it's interesting features, and then post it up along with any interesting doodles, maps, or other scraps I have for it on Sunday night. Then I'll start over again. A game a week. 52 games a year. Simple enough, right?
Argh...
So yeah, I've been doodling a few pictures of Batzorig Naranbaatar (The D&D character who sorta because more than that in my head). He's sorta a tanned, grown-up, badass Davis from digimon. I realized that after I drew him the first time, but it's true... he looks a lot like Davis.
Anyways, Metaplace is a system for creating online experiences for people who are not a massive corporation. I say 'online experiences', which sounds cheesy as hell, because it's an open-ended system for creating whatever the fuck. And I missed the Alpha sign-ups.
LAME.
Anyways, reading about what they're working on gets me excited. I want to get my hands on Metaplace.
Speaking of new things I want to get my hands on, D&D 4e. See, in 3.5, I was pretty much always a human fighter. Why? Because you could customize them. They were your own creation, with abilities of your choosing. And apparently every class will work like that in 4e. Sweet.
Alright, lots to say.
D&D on Sunday was great. I miss Amayeta a little, but Xylon is a hardcore to the bone badass. Even if he is evil and demented... Level 20 Lich? MINE.
My brother drew some stuff. I am shocked. But it's pretty sweet, so go check it out here.
Digimon World Data Squad got terrible reviews, but I am enjoying it. Epic.
Hellgate London does not impress me. It's a first person shooter, but I must grind to be able to do the things you can already do in regular FPS. Joy.

Probably more than that too.
In other news, a friend of mine has come up to visit his girlfriend who is also my friend. I love 'em both, they're great, but this time, for whatever reason, I felt sorta... I don't know if it was jealousy or what, but it was strange... there was a bit of sadness involved with it, but I can't quite place the feeling. Ah well. I generally don't think about relationship stuff... which is not to say that I'm asexual, but I don't care to waste my time trying to find someone to make me feel better when I can just do things that make me not feel like I need someone :P
Anyways, I need graph paper. It's for the castle. Hmm...
"If only I could make them..."
"Make them pay?"
"Yes. Make them pay. All of them."
"We can. Together, we can make them pay."
"No. There is no way. Even with all my knowledge, the curse cannot be broken. I am condemned to betray those I love."
"But Yogo, you do not love me." -Yogo and Bayushi, from Yogo Anaido's "The Traitor"
